Huskies to Open Season with Friday Exhibition

STORRS, CT (November 1) - The University of Connecticut women's basketball team begins its quest for a third consecutive Final Four when the Huskies face the Houston Jaguars in an exhibition contest on Friday night.

The Jaguars are a collection of former collegiate stars, including Erin Buescher, who played alongside former UConn star and current student assistant coach Svetlana Abrosimova in 19 games for the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx in 2001.  Buescher averaged 5.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game and finished ranked 16th in the WNBA in blocks per game (0.91).

Other Jaguar standouts are Tora Suber (Virginia '97), who garnered All-ACC honors for the Cavaliers in 1996 and 1997, and Katrina Colleton (Maryland '93), who saw action in 14 games for the WNBA's Miami Sol in 2001.  The Jaguars also face Rutgers, Boston College, Providence, Seton Hall and Villanova of the BIG EAST this month.
