Cash Claims Co-BIG EAST Player of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, RI (Nov. 19, 2001) -- After garnering tournament MVP honors in leading UConn to the WNIT title this past week, senior Swin Cash (McKeesport, PA) has been tabbed Co-BIG EAST Player of the Week. Cash shares the honor with junior Trish Juhline of Villanova.

A Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team selection, Cash posted her second and third double-doubles of the season to guide UConn to victories over No. 3 Vanderbilt and North Carolina. Against North Carolina in the WNIT Semifinals, Cash registered 16 points and 11 rebounds. She followed up the performance with 19 points and 10 boards against Vanderbilt in the WNIT Final on Sunday.

For the weekend, Cash averaged a team-leading 17.5 points along with 10.5 rebounds a game. Her season averages are 17.5 points and 9.3 rebounds, both of which lead the Huskies.

UConn’s next contest is against Rhode Island on Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Hartford Civic Center. Tipoff is 1 p.m.
