Cash Garners Co-BIG EAST Player of the Week Honors
PROVIDENCE, RI (Dec. 31, 2001) -- After leading the Huskies to a
2-0 record last week, UConn women’s basketball senior Swin Cash
(McKeesport, PA) has been named Co-BIG EAST Player of the Week, the
league office announced Monday. Cash shares the honor with Kate Bulger
of West Virginia.
In UConn’s two victories last week, Cash averaged 23.5 points and 13.5
rebounds per game and shot .654 (17-for-26) from the field and .765 (13-for-17)
from the free-throw line. Cash also performed well on the defensive end,
notching 3.5 blocks per game last week.
In an 84-70 victory over No. 23 Old Dominion on Saturday, Cash posted a
dominant performance with a career-high 29 points and 12 rebounds for her BIG
EAST-leading sixth double-double of the season. The effort against the Lady
Monarchs came on the heels of an 18-point, 15-rebound performance in a 101-44
victory over Cal State Northridge on Thursday.
The Player of the Week honor is the second for Cash this season. After being
tabbed WNIT Most Valuable Player, Cash was also named Co-BIG EAST Player of the
Week for Nov. 19. |
