SAAC To Sponsor Holiday Toy Drive At
Upcoming Athletic Events
STORRS, Conn. (November 29, 2007) -- The University
of Connecticut Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be sponsoring a
Holiday Toy Drive at several athletic events.
These events include the men’s ice hockey game vs. Holy
Cross on Friday, November 30 at 7:05 at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice
Forum; the women’s basketball game vs. Virginia on Wednesday, December 5
at the Hartford Civic Center at 7:00 p.m.; and the men’s basketball game
vs. Northeastern on Thursday, December 6 at Gampel Pavilion at 7:30 p.m..
As the holiday season approaches rapidly, SAAC is asking
all patrons planning to attend these games to bring new and unwrapped toys for
the collection. The toys will be donated to The Cornerstone Foundation in
Rockville, Conn. The Foundation hosts an annual Christmas party, which members
of SAAC attend, and the toys are distributed to children in need. |
