Cox Sports Television To Feature UConn Men's and Women's Soccer, Field Hockey and Volleyball

STORRS, Conn. (September 3, 2008) – Four University of Connecticut sporting events will be televised by Cox Sports Television this fall as part of the ongoing partnership between Cox and UConn that began two years ago.

The four events will be: UConn vs. Providence women’s soccer, UConn vs. Quinnipiac field hockey, UConn vs. Yale men’s soccer and UConn vs. Villanova volleyball.

The women’s soccer game will be played on Friday, Sept. 19 and will be shown on Cox on Saturday, Sept. 20 at noon. The field hockey game will be played on Wednesday, Oct. 1 and be shown on Cox on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7:00 p.m. The men’s soccer game will be played on Wednesday, Oct. 22 and be shown on Cox on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7:00 p.m. The volleyball match will be played on Sunday, Nov. 2 and be shown on Cox twice – Sunday, Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 8:00 p.m.

Cox Sports Television is a regional sports network based out of Lincoln, R.I., and services Cox cable television systems in 19 Connecticut cities and towns and the state of Rhode Island. The Connecticut cities and towns serviced by Cox include: Cheshire, East Granby, East Windsor, Enfield, Glastonbury, Granby, Hartland, Manchester, Meriden, Newington, Rocky Hill, Somers, Southington, South Windsor, Suffield, Wethersfield, Windsor Locks and Union.

Mark Brown of ESPN International will provide play-by-play for the women’s soccer and volleyball games. Former Husky Jill Lauber will do color for the women’s soccer game while Dorothy Franco-Reid will be the color announcer for the volleyball match.

Joe D’Ambrosio of the UConn Radio Network and WTIC NewsTalk 1080 will be the play-by-play announcer for the men’s soccer game while John Tuite of WILI-AM Radio in Willimantic will do play-by-play for the field hockey game.
