Norton Selected BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (May 23, 2005) - Junior Tim Norton (Pascoag, R.I.) was selected Pitcher of the Week by the BIG EAST Conference as announced by the league on Monday, May 23. This is the first such honor for Norton in his career and the second Pitcher of the Week honor for a Husky this season (Rich Sirois - March 14).

Norton threw his second complete game of the season on Friday, May 20, pitching all nine innings against Boston College. The righty held the Eagles to just one run while scattering five hits, only one of which (a double) was for extra bases. Norton also struck out five batters while issuing only one base on balls. After allowing the lone run in the top of the fourth, he buckled down and retired 17 of the next 19 batters. The win moved Norton to 4-0 this season and lowered his ERA to 2.62 in BIG EAST games, fourth-best in the conference.
