Hourigan, D'Argento and Norton Compete in NEIBA All-Star Game

BOSTON, Mass. (June 5, 2005) - University of Connecticut first baseman Jeff Hourigan (Beacon Falls, Conn.) started, while outfielder Russ D'Argento (Marlboro, Mass.) and pitcher Tim Norton (Pascoag, R.I.) entered the game in later innings, in the 2005 NEIBA College Baseball All-Star Game on Sunday, June 5 at Fenway Park in Boston. The three Huskies helped lead the University Division to an 8-2 victory over the College Division.

Hourigan, a Second Team All-BIG EAST selection, started and played the entire game at first base. He went 1-for-5 in the game, notching an RBI single up the middle in his first at-bat. In the sixth inning, he reached on an error by the shortstop and eventually came around to score. Hourigan then helped produce two of the final runs for the University Division in the ninth inning when he hit into a bases-loaded fielder's choice for an RBI and also scored.

D'Argento entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the top of the sixth inning and proved a good choice as he singled through the right side to bat in a run. He then stole second and came around to score. The Third Team All-BIG EAST honoree remained in the game in right field and eventually moved over to center.

Norton came out of the bullpen to pitch the seventh inning. He struck out his first batter faced, gave up a single through the middle and got the third batter to ground into a double play to end the inning.
