Men's Cross Country Takes Fifth At Fairfield Invitational
Results FAIRFIELD, Conn.
(September 13, 2008) - The University of Connecticut men's cross country
team competed in the Fairfield invitational this weekend. Freshman Andrew
Judd (West Hartford, Conn.) was the top finisher for UConn in the 8k race as
the Husky squad took fifth place in their first match of the fall season.
UConn had six competitors race in the Invitational. Judd finished the race in
15th place with a time of 26:28. Following right behind him was
teammate freshman Luke Albertson (Norwich, Conn.) in 16th place with
a time of 26:30.
Next for UConn was sophomore Dave Macklem (Tolland, Conn.) with a time
of 27:13, sophomore Scott Johnson (Old Lyme, Conn.) in 27:46, junior
Andrew Smith (Sudbury, Mass.) finishing in 28:49 and sophomore Dan Holst
(Smithtown, N.Y.) finishing with a time of 29:06.
Eight different schools took part in the Fairfield Invitational. Yale
finished first among all of the teams in the race with 20 points. Fordham took
second (72), host Fairfield came in third (109), Southern Connecticut took
fourth (115), UConn was in fifth (132) with an average time of 27:21.20, the
University of Rhode Island took sixth (151), Bryant University came in seventh
(161) and University of New Haven finished in eighth (178).
Up next for the Huskies is the UMass Invitational in Amherst, Mass. on
Saturday, Sept. 20 where UConn will look to improve upon last years third place
finish. |
