UConn Finishes Tenth At Central Connecticut Mini Meet
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (October 25, 2008) – The
University of Connecticut men’s cross country team took part in the CCSU mini
meet this weekend, their last weekend before the BIG EAST Championships. The
Huskies were one of 14 teams to race in the 5K meet and took 10th
overall with their highest runner coming in 25th place out of 148
runners.
Freshman Luke Albertson (Norwich, Conn.) had the
highest showing for the Huskies coming in 25th overall with a time of
15:49. Freshmen Tim and Alex Bennetan (Lake Forest, Ill.) placed
55th and 56th consecutively for their third consecutive
finish in a race this season. They both finished with a time of 16:17.
Coming in fourth and fifth for the Huskies was freshman
Rachid Sofiane (Wallingford, Conn.) and sophomore Dan Holst
(Smithtown, N.Y.) who finished with times of 16:35 and 16:36 respectively.
Junior Andrew Smith (Sudbury, Mass.) rounded out the
pack for the Huskies finishing with a final time of 16:57.
UConn will compete in the BIG EAST Championships next
weekend in Bronx, N.Y. on Friday, October 31 at Van Cortlandt Park.
