STORRS, CONN. (September 10, 2004) - The
ground breaking for The Mark R. Shenkman Training Center was held on
Friday afternoon on the Storrs campus. Thanks to alumnus Mark R.
Shenkman, UConn will soon join the ranks of major universities
nationwide with an indoor training facility that will be utilized by
the football program, recreational services and other varsity sports.
His $2.5 million gift, one of the largest ever to the UConn Division
of Athletics, will help build a facility that will serve the entire
campus community. The facility will open in the summer of 2006.
