Travalja Leads Huskies to Sixth Place Finish
Final Results CHARLESTON, S.C. (March 4, 2008)-- Senior
Brian Travalja (Oradell, N.J.) finished in a tie for tenth place overall
to lead the University of Connecticut men's golf team to a sixth place team
finish at the CSU Spring Kick Off Tournament, hosted by Charleston Southern
University, at Coosaw Creek Country Club. The University of Memphis captured
the team title with a three round total of 874, beating runner-up Kennesaw State
by one shot. Nova Southeastern, Charleston Southern and Notre Dame rounded out
the top five teams, followed by UConn at 914. Ian Rochester of Memphis was the
individual medalist with a nine-under par total of 65-67-72--204, 12 shots clear
of the field. Travalja led the UConn finishers at 70-77-74--221, followed by
freshman Matt Dubrowski (Bergenfield, N.J.) in a tie for 24th at
78-74-74--226. Senior A.J. Siekierski (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) tied
for 32nd at 78-74-80--232. The Huskies return to action next week when they
travel to Puerto Rico for Spring Break and compete at the Spring Break
Invitational at Palmas del Mar Resort. |
