Huskies Stand in Tie for Sixth After Day One
at BIG EAST Championship

HEBRON, Ky. (April 20, 2008)-- Senior Brian Travalja and freshman Matt
Dubrowski each shot a two-over par 74 Sunday to lead the University of
Connecticut golf team to a tie for sixth place after day one of competition at
the 2008 BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship at the Traditions Golf Club.
Marquette University holds the team lead after notching a team total of 291
Sunday, led by individual leader Ted Gray, who shot a four-under 68. Marquette
holds a three shot lead over Seton Hall (294). Louisville (296), Notre Dame
(296), St. John's (300), UConn (301), Cincinnati (301), Georgetown (302), DePaul
(302), South Florida (304), Villanova (305) and Rutgers (307) round out the
standings. Travalja and Dubrowski stand in a tie for 15th place in the
individual standings. Gray holds a three-shot lead in tough scoring conditions,
as only six players broke par on the afternoon. UConn freshman Chris DeLucia
shot a 76 to tie for 28th and senior A.J. Siekierski shot a 77 to stand in a tie
for 39th overall. Play continues Monday and Tuesday with the Huskies teeing
off on the back nine between 8:50 and 9:30 a.m. on Monday. Live scoring is
