STORRS, Conn - University of Connecticut men’s soccer freshman forward
Bonginkosi Macala (Pretoria, South Africa) was named BIG EAST Rookie Player
of the week by the conference office on Monday. This is Macala’s first career
honor and the first BIG EAST acolade for any Husky player in the 2004 season.
Macala took part in all four of UConn’s goals in a 1-1-0 week for the Huskies,
netting three, including the game winner, in Connecticut’s 4-0 victory over
Richmond. Macala was three-for-three in shots on net and and added an assist on
the game’s first goal.
Connecticut returns to action on Wednesday, September 15th when they host
Saint Peter’s at 7:00 p.m.
