University of Connecticut sophomore back Moshe Shalchon (Rishon Lezioh,
Israel) earned his first career weekly honor as he was named BIG EAST Defensive
Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday.
Shalchon helped Connecticut to a 2-0 week with wins over St. Peter’s (1-0,
2ot) and West Virginia (2-0), giving the Huskies their first winning streak of
the season. Shalchon and the UConn defense held their opponents to just five
shots on goal in both games, while holding St. Peter’s and WVU scoreless for
196:42.
The Huskies return to action on Wednesday, September 22nd for their first
road game of the year as they face Virginia Commonwealth at 7:00 p.m.
