Chijindu Earns BIG EAST Men’s Soccer
Rookie of the Week Honors
Receives first conference

STORRS, Conn. (Oct. 4) -
University of Connecticut men’s soccer freshman Chukwudi Chijindu
(Fontana, Calif.) was selected BIG EAST Rookie of the Week by the conference
office on Monday, marking Chijindu’s first career conference honor.
Chijindu helped UConn evade a loss to Villanova as the Huskies tied the
Wildcats, 2-2 in an overtime game on Oct. 3, Connecticut’s only contest of the
week. He assisted on the Huskies’ first score of the contest at the 86:52 mark
and then scored the game-tying goal just 53 seconds later.
UConn returns home on Tuesday, Oct. 5, to face the Quinnipiac Bobcats at 7:00
