STORRS, Conn. (Oct. 5) – Sophomore midfielder Kevin Burns (Greenfield, Ind.) netted his first goal of the season in the second half to lift the Connecticut men’s soccer team (5-3-2, 2-0-1 BE) past Quinnipiac (4-4-1, 2-0-0 NEC), 2-1 at Morrone Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Bobcats took an early 1-0 lead at the 8:17 mark when Lassana Camara sent a dribbler on the ground from the top of the box past UConn goalkeeper Adam Schuerman (Brookfield, Wis.) off a feed from Dominic Popolozio.

UConn attempted to tie the score 26:32 into the contest as freshman Chukwudi Chijindu’s (Fontana, Calif.) header attempt was stopped by Quinnipiac netminder Conor Shilcock-Elliott.

Connecticut had another quality opportunity at 63:14 when senior Easton Wilson (Hartford, Conn.) sent a low shot just wide of the right goal post. Wilson then helped the Huskies net the equalizer at the 71:03 mark as he sent Chinjindu a pass that found the back of the net, knotting the score at 1-1.

Burns gave UConn a 2-1 advantage at 77:50 off a feed from senior Stephen Arias (Bakersfield, Calif.) and junior Drew Brown (Middletown, Conn.).

Connecticut outshot Quinnipiac 16-5 and led 9-3 in corner kicks.
