James Named BIG EAST
Defensive Player of the Week
Freshman Back Receives First Career Conference Honor

STORRS, Conn. (Oct. 18) - University of Connecticut men’s soccer freshman Julius James (Maloney Gardens, Trinidad) was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday.

James played a key role in the Huskies’ 173 minute shutout streak as UConn went 2-0 this past week. He also helped Connecticut hold Boston University (Oct. 12) and Rutgers (Oct. 16) to only seven shots in the 2-1 and 1-0 wins, respectively. Offensively, James notched the game-winner in the 107th minute of UConn’s 1-0 double-overtime win against Rutgers.

The Huskies return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 20, when they play host Boston College in the second contest of a men’s and women’s soccer doubleheader, slated to start at 7:30 p.m.
