O'Brian White Earns BIG EAST Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (September 3, 2007) - University of Connecticut men’s soccer player O'Brian White (Scarborough, Ontario) was named the first BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week of the 2007 season, as announced by the conference office Monday.

White earns player of the week honors after netting three goals in the No. 25 Huskies’ 2-0 opening weekend. Against Canisius, the junior opened the 2007 season with a score just 8:32 into UConn’s 3-2 win. Just 5:21 later, White struck again on a header.

The Huskies then topped Stony Brook 3-0 on Sunday. This time, White tallied the game’s second goal at the 8:46 mark. He received a crossing pass and headed the ball into the right side of the goal.

White and the Huskies return to action Friday night in the UConn/adidas Classic in Morrone Stadium. Fellow BIG EAST team South Florida and Florida International will face off first at 4:00 p.m., followed by the Huskies and South Carolina at 7:00 p.m.
