O'Brian White Earns BIG EAST Men's
Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Honors
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (September 3, 2007) -
University of Connecticut
men’s soccer player O'Brian White (Scarborough, Ontario) was named
the first BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week of the 2007 season, as announced
by the conference office Monday.
White earns player of the week honors after netting three goals in the No. 25
Huskies’ 2-0 opening weekend. Against Canisius, the junior opened the 2007
season with a score just 8:32 into UConn’s 3-2 win. Just 5:21 later, White
struck again on a header.
The Huskies then topped Stony Brook 3-0 on Sunday. This time, White tallied the
game’s second goal at the 8:46 mark. He received a crossing pass and headed the
ball into the right side of the goal.
White and the Huskies return to action Friday night in the UConn/adidas Classic
in Morrone Stadium. Fellow BIG EAST team South Florida and Florida International
will face off first at 4:00 p.m., followed by the Huskies and South Carolina at
7:00 p.m. |
