O'Brian White Named Men's Soccer BIG
EAST Offensive Player of the Week
PROVIDENCE,
R.I. (September 10, 2007) - O'Brian White (Scarborough, Ontario) represents
the University of Connecticut men's soccer team as the BIG EAST Offensive Player
of the Week for the second straight week, as announced by the conference office
Monday. With the junior forward's performance this weekend, the Huskies are now
4-0 on the year and ranked No. 2 in the latest Soccer America poll.
White led the Huskies to victories over No. 15 South Carolina, 3-0, and Florida
International, 1-0, at the UConn/adidas Classic. White scored twice against USC
on Sept. 7, the first goal coming on a 30-yard shot into the far upper right
corner of the goal. His second tally and UConn’s third of the game, was a shot
into the top of the goal mouth after a scramble following a restart.
Against FIU on Saturday, White assisted on the game’s lone goal, which was
scored with nine seconds remaining in regulation.
White and the Huskies return to action Wednesday night at 7:00 against Hofstra
in Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. The Pride is currently 0-2-1 on the season, most
recently falling to Stony Brook, 3-1, Friday night.
