We had a tough second round NCAA match on
Wednesday against the University of Vermont. I thought our boys did a great
job after the 10-day lay-off and came out extremely focused. Vermont, as we
suspected, was a very good team and coach Jesse Cormier really did a great
job with the Catamounts this year.
The Huskies
will now face the South Florida Bulls on Sunday, Dec. 2nd at noon at Joseph
J. Morrone Stadium. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE KICKOFF TIME HAS BEEN
SWITCHED FROM 1:00PM TO NOON.
How about
having four teams from the BIG EAST in the Round of 16! It is a great
testament to our league that four teams have advanced this far.
Morrone Stadium
was rocking on Wednesday night and that is because our students are the
Nation's #1 College Soccer Fans in the Nation! Our students, the Friends of
Soccer and the fans from the State of Connecticut have really been great
this year. Your enthusiasm, your passion, your knowledge of the game and
your love of our team is second to none. We appreciate the environment you
have created at Morrone Stadium.
Congratulations
to former Husky Sam Forko who is getting married this year. Sam was a
starter on the 2000 National Championship Team and we are very happy for
him. Former Huskies Chris Gbandi and Mansour Ndiaye (to name a couple) are
in town for the wedding.
Finally, also
congratulations to two former Husky Assistants, Bobby Muus, the Head Coach
at the University of Denver, who did a great job his first year at the helm,
and Josh Krusewski, the new Head Coach at the University of New Haven. Both
of these young men were integral parts of helping to build the Huskies in
the late '90s and early 2000's and we are glad that they are "successfully"
running their own shop.
