Men's Track and Field Heads to Villanova to Compete in Outdoor BIG EAST

BIG EAST Track and Field Championship Central
VILLANOVA, Pa. (May 1, 2008) - After winning the indoor championship in
February, the University of Connecticut men's track and field team will look to
complete the sweep of conference meets when they travel to Villanova for the BIG
EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championship this Friday through Sunday. The
event gets under way on Friday with day one of the decathlon. The first event is
scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. On Saturday, the field events begin at 11:00
a.m., while the track events begin at 1:45 p.m. On Sunday, the field events
begin at 10:00 a.m., while track events begin at 11:15 a.m. Fans can follow the

thinks six different schools are capable of winning this year's championship.
"These schools have qualified enough people to score the points needed to win
the championship," he said. "It's often hard to tell what kind of marks each
athlete is going to post, because they have all been competing in different
weather conditions throughout the season." In order to win, Coach Roy believes
everyone has to do their part and have a top performance. "We've had a lot of
success with our relays in the past, but we can't depend on one specific event
to score points, everyone has to step up and perform to the best of their
