Three Men's Track and Field Athletes Near Decathlon Lead After Day One of
BIG EAST Championship
Day One Decathlon Results VILLANOVA, Pa. (May 2, 2008)
- Three members of the University of Connecticut men's track and field team
are in the top five of the decathlon after day one of the BIG EAST Outdoor
Championship at Villanova Friday. Aaron King (Wharton, N.J.) is in third
with 3,692 points. Kyle Rowbotham (Scotch Plains, N.J.) is in fourth with
3,553 points. Sean Smith (Scotch Plains, N.J.) is in fifth with 3,538
points. Jon Buice of Syracuse currently leads the event with 3,793 points.
UConn athletes won four of the five events contested on Friday. King won the
100-meter dash, the long jump and the shot put. Rowbotham was victorious in the
400-meter dash. The BIG EAST Outdoor Championship will continue on Saturday as
the main events begin. The decathlon resumes at 9:00 a.m. The field events will
begin at 11:00 a.m., and the track events will start at 1:45 p.m. Check back
