Men's Track and Field Competes in New England Championship for First Time
Since 2005
DURHAM, N.H. (May 8, 2008) - The University of Connecticut
men's track and field team returns to the New England Championship
for the first time since 2005. The meet will take place Friday and
Saturday with events starting at 10:00 a.m. on both days. With
exams going on this week, the team will be somewhat limited in what athletes can
participate. Head Coach Greg Roy will try to field as many athletes as
possible, and as such, some will be traveling back and forth between New
Hampshire and UConn to complete their finals. "Obviously, the exams are the
most important thing going on this week," said Coach Roy. "We are just trying to
field as many people as possible and keep them ready for the IC4A meet next week
and the NCAA Regionals the week after that." "Last week with the BIG EAST
meet, we went all out to try and win the event. In these remaining events, the
focus shifts to the individual and having them perform in their best events. We
will take points as we get them, but we want to have athletes qualify for the
NCAA Regional meet and be prepared to possibly move on from there.
