Gagnon Win in 800-Meter Run Highlights Men's Track and Field at IC4A
Championship
IC4A Championship Results PRINCETON, N.J. (May 18,
2008) - The University of Connecticut men's track and field team finished
18th over the weekend at the annual IC4A Championship with 19 points. The
Huskies were highlighted by junior Brian Gagnon's (Lowell, Mass.) win in
the 800-meter run. He won the race with a time of 1:49.78, which beat the second
place finisher by one one-hundredth of a second. Andrew Dubs (Holland,
Pa.) placed second in the shot put with a throw of 54-10¼. Kyle Duggan
(Staten Island, N.Y.) also scored for Connecticut, finishing eighth in the pole
vault, clearing 16-2¾. UConn had to compete shorthanded after they decided to
hold senior co-captain Basil Campbell (Ewing, N.J.) out of his sprints
after he suffered an injury last week. They hope to have him ready for the NCAA
Regional competition in two weeks. The Huskies will be off next weekend before
the athletes that have qualified travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to compete in the
NCAA East Regional May 30-31.
