Huskies Finish Fifth In The New England Cross Country Championships

BOSTON (October 8, 2005) - The University of Connecticut women's cross country team captured fifth place in the New England Cross Country Championships with a total of 215 points.  Taking first place was Boston University with 50 points, followed by Brown (140), Harvard (156) and Williams (169).

Leading the way for the Huskies was Kristen Meyer (Hillsborough, N.J.) who took fifth place in the event with a time of 17:50.  Harvard's Lindsey Scherf took first place with a time of 17:22.

Also competing for the Huskies were Niamh Cunningham (Branford, Conn.) taking 36th place with a time of 18:49.  Julie LaFrano (Loudonville, N.Y.) took 57th place (19:08), Jillian Sullivan (Bristol, Conn.) placed 58th (19:08), Allison Croft (Ellington, Conn.) took 59th place (19:09) and Meghan O'Conner (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) finished in 240th with a time of 21:17.

The Huskies will next be in action on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Penn State National Invitational.
