Sullivan Captures CCSU Mini Meet As Huskies Finish Second

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (Oct. 22) - Junior Jillian Sullivan (Bristol,
Conn.) captured the individual title in a time of 11:07 as the University of
Connecticut women's cross country team finished in second place at the Central
Connecticut State University Mini Meet held at Stanley Quarter Park on
Saturday. The Huskies finished with 42 points. In addition to Sullivan's
first-place finish, two other Huskies wrapped up the race in the top-10.
Freshman Kate Vaughan (Bethel Park, Pa.) placed fourth in a time of
11:34 while fellow freshman Keelan King (Scotia, N.Y.) finished in
eighth place in 11:37. Sophomore Orlaith Cunningham (Branford, Conn.)
was 11th in a time of 11:43 while freshman Taylor Lebovich (Old Tappan,
N.J.) was 18th in 11:58. Freshman Rebecca McCollum (Monroe, Conn.) was
19th in 11:59 and senior Cara Reardon (Northborough, Mass.) wrapped up
the UConn team by placing 21st in 11:59. The Huskies also had numerous
participants who raced as individuals. Pamela Karkut was 23rd (12:04).
senior Erin Sales (Windsor Locks, Conn.) finished 26th (12:06), freshman
Vicki Weismann (Rutland, Mass.) was 30th (12:13), sophomore Emily
Lewek (Scotia, N.Y.) placed 37th (12:18), freshman Julie Vilord
(Suffern, N.Y.) was 39th (12:21), Jane Bugbee took 47th (12:35), senior
Melanie Murphy (Newtown, Conn.) was 67th (12:39) and Mailoha
Albaladejo wrapped up the Husky finishers in 65th position (13:06). The
University of Rhode Island won the race with 32 points. The Huskies are next
in action on Friday, Oct. 28 when they travel to Bronx, N.Y. for the BIG EAST
Championships. |
