Jillian Sullivan Is Huskies' Top Finisher At BIG EAST Championships
BRONX, N.Y. (October 28, 2005) - Jillian Sullivan
(Bristol, Conn.) led the way for the University of Connecticut women's
cross country team with a 19th place finish at the BIG EAST
Championships held on Friday afternoon. The Huskies finished in
ninth place with 251 points while Notre Dame took first with 34
points. Sullivan placed 19th with a time of 22:01 at the event.
Senior Niamh Cunningham (Branford, Conn.) was next for the Huskies,
taking 44th (22:58), Kate Vaughan (Bethel Park, Pa.) finished 55th
(23:15), Orlaith Cunningham (Branford, Conn.) placed 63rd (23:41),
Keelan King (Scotia, N.Y.) took 70th place (23:54), Rebecca McCollum
(Monroe, Conn.) placed 80th (24:08) and Cara Reardon (Northborough,
Mass.) finished 81st (24:10). Other Husky competitors included Erin Sales
(Windsor Locks, Conn.) and Taylor Lebovich (Old Tappan, N.J.), who both
raced as individuals. Lebovich finished with a time of 24:19 and Sales
with a time of 25:32. "It was a tremendous race for Jillian," said
distance coach Kim McGreevy. "She really stepped it up and had a solid performance." The
Huskies will next be in action at the NCAA Regionals in Boston. |
