Women's Cross Country Takes Second at Central Connecticut Mini Meet
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (October 20, 2007) –
The University of Connecticut women’s cross country team took a second
place finish at the Central Connecticut State University Mini Meet on
Saturday afternoon in New Britain, Conn.

Griebel
(Bristol, Conn.) was the
first to cross the finish line for the Huskies as she took a seventh place
finish. Co-captain Kate Vaughan (Bethel Park, Pa.) came in right behind Griebel in
ninth, to finish second for the Huskies.
UNH took the victory with 24 points, as its top-five finishes crossed
the finish line within the top-10 finishers. Uconn finished in second with
64.
“I was really pleased with how we ran and I believe it prepared us well
for the BIG EAST Championships,” said distance coach Kim Mcgreevy. “It was a
beautiful day but a muddy course but we looked good under the circumstances
and did well.”
The Huskies will travel to
Louisville, Ky. For the BIG EAST Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28.
“We are very excited for the BIG EAST Championships,” said head coach
Bill Morgan. “I am looking forward to seeing the team putting together a
great race after all their hard work they have put in so far this season.”
