SANTO DOMINGO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC (August 14) -- Tracey Fuchs, a three time NCAA First Team All-American for the University of Connecticut field hockey team, led the United States Pan American Field Hockey Team to a silver medal on Thursday. The Americans fell to international powerhouse Argentina, 3-1, in the gold medal contest of the 2003 Pan American Games.

The United States advanced to the gold medal game easily with triumphs over Jamaica (5-0), Uruguay (5-0), Canada (3-0) and Chile (6-1).  However, en route to its fifth gold medal in five tries, Argentina showed its dominance with victories over Trinidad & Tobago (9-0), Dominican Republic (25-0), Chile (13-1) and Uruguay (7-0).

Fuchs who earned All-American honors from 1985-'87 with the Huskies, is UConn's career leader in points and goals scored with 178 and 79 respectively.  Fuchs' 1985 squad captured the NCAA National Championship and finished the season with a 19-2-0 record.

Fuchs has been a part of all five USA Pan American Filed Hockey Teams and has helped Team USA take home the silver medal four times and the bronze medal once.  Fuchs was also a member of the 1988 and 1992 USA Olympic Teams.
