Storrs, CT (October 4) – Senior Kelly Stolle (Warren, CT)
scored her fifth goal of the season to lead the University of Connecticut field
hockey team to a 1-0 victory over New Hampshire at the George J. Sherman Family
Sports Complex.
With the win, UConn improves to 8-3 on the season, while the
Wildcats drop to 4-8.
Stolle scored the only goal of the contest with 8:55 left in
the first half. Sophomore Becky Helwig (Madison, NJ) found Stolle 12 yards from
the goal and the Husky senior calmly slotted a shot past UNH junior goalie
Christine Buckley.
Maureen Butler (Red Hook, NY) stopped one shot in earning the
shutout, while Buckley was outstanding in net for New Hampshire, stopping 19
UConn shots. The Huskies out shot the Wildcats 29-1 in the contest.
UConn returns to action when they play host to Boston College on Wednesday,
October 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex in Storrs.
