Laura Puddle (London, England) scored the lone goal of the game to lead
the University of Connecticut (7-0, 1-0 BE) to a 1-0 victory over Villanova
(3-3, 0-1 BE) in field hockey action on Sunday afternoon at Villanova Stadium.
Puddle’s goal came during a scramble in front of the net at 44:40 off a feed
from sophomore Meghan Hoffman (West Granby, Conn.).
The Huskies dominated the Wildcats with a 20-5 advantage in shots while penalty
corners were 19-1 in favor of Connecticut. Erin Scott made 13 saves in goal for
Villanova and UConn goalkeeper Melissa Bostwick (San Diego, Calif.)
turned aside two shots to preserve the shutout.
Connecticut returns to action on Wednesday September 22, when it
travels to Cambridge, Mass. to take on Harvard at 7:00 p.m.
