No. 6 UConn Field Hockey Moves To 8-0 With 3-1 Win at No. 18

Cambridge, Mass. (Sept. 22, 2004) — Junior Lauren Henderson
(Avondale Harare, Zimbabwe) scored a pair of second half goals to lead the No. 6
University of Connecticut field hockey team to a 3-1 win at No. 18 Harvard on
Wednesday night.
The improves the Huskies to a perfect 8-0 overall, while Harvard drops to 4-2
following the loss. Connecticut’s eight consecutive wins to start the season
represent its best start since it won its first 23 games in 1999.
Sophomore Meagan Hoffman (West Granby, Conn.) gave UConn the game’s first
lead with her third goal of the season at the 18:46 mark.
Harvard’s Tiffany Kgnaczyk answered with a tally just over 10 minutes later to
knot the game at 1-1.
Henderson gave the Huskies the lead for good when she converted on a corner for
the first of her two goals just 3:55 into the second half off a setup by Abby
Ostruzka (Riverside, Conn.) and Laura Puddle (London, England).
Henderson’s two goals move her to within two goals of tying Tracy Fuchs’ UConn
career-record total of 79.
The Huskies out-shot the Crimson 19-7 and attempted 14 penalty corners while
limiting Harvard to four.
UConn returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 25 when they travel to Massachusetts
for a 1:00 p.m. (ET) start.
