No. 6 Field Hockey Holds Off Boston University 4-3

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Oct. 10, 2004) —
Senior Lauren Henderson (Avondale Harare, Zimbabwe) scored three goals as the No. 6 University of Connecticut field hockey team won its 13th consecutive game with a 4-3 win at Boston University on Sunday.

The Huskies improve to a perfect 13-0 on the season, while the Terriers drop to 7-4.

After Henderson gave UConn a 1-0 lead just 8:30 into the contest, Boston University responded with two goals over a two-minute span, the first at 17:48, to claim a 2-1 edge.

Henderson answered with back-to-back goals at 23:16 and 32:23 of the first half to give the Huskies a 3-2 edge heading into the intermission.

Lizzy Peijs (Breda, Holland) increased UConn’s advantage to 4-2 with her ninth goal of the season with 11:06 remaining in the contest.

BU added its final tally on a penalty corner at 70:00, on a goal by Lauren Bu Vendetti.

For the game the Huskies out-shot the Terriers 17-9 and attempted eight penalty corners to Boston University’s six.

UConn returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 13 when the Huskies return home to face No. 10 Northeastern beginning at 7:00 p.m. (ET).
