Lauren Henderson Breaks Career Scoring Record
UConn Field Hockey Wins 10th Straight, 8-1 vs. Yale

Conn. (September 29, 2004) — Senior Lauren Henderson (Avondale
Harare, Zimbabwe) became the all-time leading scorer in Connecticut field hockey
history as the Huskies won their 10th straight game to open the season with an
8-1 victory over Yale on Wednesday night at the George J. Sherman Family Sports
Complex.
With the win, Connecticut improves to 10-0, while Yale drops to 3-5 overall. A
total of six different Huskies scored goals in the win.
Henderson scored a pair of goals to move past former UConn standout Tracey Fuchs
previous total of 79 as the all-time leading scorer in the program’s annals with
her current total of 80 in 73 games.
The senior didn’t waste any time scoring her first goal of the game as she
notched her first tally just 1:21 into the contest off a setup by Laura Puddle
(London, England) and Abby Ostruzka (Riverside, Conn.).
Henderson broke the record when she scored the game’s final goal with just over
10 minutes remaining in the contest to up UConn’s final margin to 8-1.
Puddle finished with two goals and an assist, while Lizzy Peijs (Breda,
Holland) added one goal and an assist.
The Huskies out-shot the Bulldogs 18-1 for the game and attempted 12 penalty
corners while limiting Yale to just one.
UConn returns to action on Friday, Oct. 1 when it travels to face the University
of New Hampshire beginning at 7:00 p.m.
