UConn Head Coach Nancy Stevens Logs 400th Win as No. 7 Field Hockey Beats

STORRS, Conn. (Oct. 24, 2004) — UConn head coach Nancy Stevens became
the fourth head coach in NCAA Field Hockey history to record 400 career wins as
the No. 7 UConn Huskies defeated Cornell 6-0 on Senior Day Sunday afternoon at
the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
With the win, the Huskies improve to 16-1 overall, while Cornell falls to 2-11
with the loss.
Lindsay Belli (Glenwood, N.J.) sparked the Huskies to the victory with
her first career-three-goal game. Belli gave UConn a 1-0 advantage just 5:13
into the contest, before adding two more goals late in the second half.
Also notching scoring tallies for the Huskies was Lauren Henderson
(Avondale Harare, Zimbabwe) who registered her team-leading 25th goal of the
season at the 34:59 mark and redshirt freshman Lauren Hennessey
(Oceanport, N.J.), who scored her first career goal just 21 second into
the second half.
Sophomore Meagan Hoffman (West Granby, Conn.) also netted her fourth goal
of the season to round out UConn’s scoring.
For the game, the Huskies out-shot Cornell 21-3 and attempted six penalty
corners to Cornell’s one.
The shutout marked UConn’s 10th in 17 games this season. The Huskies have
out-scored their opponents 74-9 over their 17 games.
UConn closes out the regular season with back-to-back road games. The Huskies
will travel to face Fairfield University on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 3:00 p.m.
(ET), before wrapping up the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 30 vs. Providence
in a game that will be played at Trinity College in Hartford.
