Henderson, Puddle Lead No. 6 UConn Past Fairfield 5-0

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (Oct. 26, 2004) — Lauren Henderson (Avondale Harare,
Zimbabwe) and Laura Puddle (London, England) each scored two goals to
lead the No. 6 University of Connecticut field hockey team past Fairfield on
Wednesday afternoon 5-0.
The shutout marked the Huskies’ 11th this season and their fourth straight
overall. UConn has out-scored its last four opponents 20-0 and have posted 79
goals while allowing just nine over 18 games this season.
The Huskies improve to 17-1 with the victory, while Fairfield drops to 7-13 with
the loss.
Henderson got the Huskies on the board 17:06 into the contest with her 26th goal
of the season. Puddle followed with back-to-back goals at 22:45 in the first
half and 44:27 in the second to increase the UConn advantage to 3-0.
Henderson upped the margin to 4-0 with her team-leading 27th goal at 49:01
before Kristin Galuski (Latham, N.Y.) rounded out the game’s scoring with
her second tally of the season at 67:35.
Melissa Bostwick (San Diego, Calif.) logged six saves en route to her
10th shutout of the season.
For the game, UConn out-shot the Stags 25-8 and attempted eight penalty corners
to Fairfield’s five.
The Huskies close out the regular season when they face Providence on Saturday,
Oct. 30 at Trinity College beginning at 1:00 p.m. (ET).
