Rebecca Helwig Named ECAC Player of the Week
Senior earns second weekly honor
PROVIDENCE,
R.I. (September 14, 2005) - Connecticut's Rebecca Helwig
(Basking Ridge, N.J.) this week's BIG EAST Defensive Player of the
Week, was named NCAA Division I Player of the Week by the Eastern
College Athletic Conference Tuesday.
Helwig was
named Preseason BIG EAST Co-Offensive Player of the Year by the
league's head coaches. The senior midfielder made significant
defensive efforts in UConn’s 1-0 overtime win over Quinnipiac and in
its 4-2 win at Princeton.
She is ranked among
the conference leaders in goals (three) and assists (two).
Helwig is a member of
a UConn team that is ranked No. 11 in the first National Field Hockey Coaches
Association national poll released Sept. 13.

of colleges and universities located in the northeastern region of the United
