No. 15 UConn Field Hockey Wins Fourth Straight 4-2 vs. No. 10 Michigan State
Sophomore Nikki Harmony scores career-high two goals in victory

- Sophomore Nikki Harmony (Palmyra, Pa.) scored a career-high
two goals to lead the No. 15 UConn field hockey team to its fourth
straight victory with a 4-2 win over No. 10 Michigan State on Saturday
afternoon in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The victory improves UConn’s overall mark to 9-3 on the season while
Michigan State slips to 8-6 following the loss.
The Huskies (9-3) opened up a 1-0 lead in the first half on sophomore
Meagan Hoffman’s (East Granby, Conn.) third goal of the season
23:56 into the contest. Harmony added her first tally of the game at
33:40 to make the score 2-0 at the intermission.
Michigan State (8-6) knotted the contest at 2-2 on a pair of goals by
Michelle Huynh-Ba within the first 5:53 of the second half. Huynh-Ba
netted her first score just 1:56 into the second half before following
with her second goal just 3:57 later at the 40:53 mark.
Connecticut reclaimed the lead for good at 47:55 when senior
Rebecca Helwig (Basking Ridge, N.J.) knocked in her team-leading
ninth goal of the season off a feed from sophomore Lizzy Peijs
(Venlo, Holland), her second assist of the game. Harmony added an
insurance tally when she put away a rebound at 57:19 to account for
the final 4-2 margin.
UConn out-shot the Spartans for the game 15-8 and won despite
attempting just two penalty corners while allowing seven to Michigan
State.
The Huskies will remain in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Sunday for a meeting
with No. 14 Michigan. Game time is slated for 12:00 p.m. (ET).
