No. 14 UConn Field Hockey Defeats
No. 10 Northeastern 3-2

- Sophomore Kristin Galuski (Latham, N.Y.) scored a pair of
goals as the No. 14 University of Connecticut field hockey team raced
out to a 3-0 lead and held on for a 3-2 victory over No. 10
Northeastern on Wednesday afternoon in Boston.
Galuski scored her two goals over the opening 15:42 of the first half
to give UConn a 2-0 lead. Freshman Jennifer Kleinhans
(Mannheim, Germany) added her fourth tally of the season at the 27:25
mark of the opening period to increase the Connecticut advantage to
3-0.
Northeastern cut the margin to 3-1 prior to halftime on a goal by
Lauren Edelmeier at 29:12. Northeastern’s Whitney Shean registered her
team-leading 14th goal of the season at 51:50 in the second to round
out the game’s scoring.
The win improves UConn’s overall mark on the year to 10-4, while
Northeastern suffers its second loss of the season to drop to 13-2.
Laura Puddle (London, England) and Meagan Hoffmann (West
Granby, Conn.) each recorded an assist for UConn in the victory.
No. 14 UConn will return to action with the final game of its current
four-game road trip on Saturday, Oct. 15 at Rutgers. The BIG EAST
contest is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. (ET) start in Piscataway, N.J.
