No. 12 UConn Field Hockey Holds On For
5-4 Overtime Win Over Boston University

Conn. (October 19, 2005) - Sophomore Lizzy Peijs (Venlo,
Holland) scored 9:29 into the first overtime period to give the No. 12
University of Connecticut field hockey team a 5-4 overtime win over
No. 18 Boston University on Wednesday night at the George J. Sherman
Family Sports Complex.
The win marks UConn’s third straight and improves its overall record
to 12-4. Boston University falls to 11-4 on the season with the loss.
The game featured four ties and saw neither team score consecutive
goals. The Huskies took the game’s first lead at 9:31 on Kristin
Galuski’s (Latham, N.Y.) team-leading 11th goal of the season. The
Terriers responded with a tally at 15:48 to tie the game for the first
of four times at 1-1.
Lindsay Leck (Allentown, Pa.) scored a pair of goals in the
win, while Kati Cavanagh (Norwalk, Conn.) rounded out UConn’s
scoring in regulation with her third of the season.
In addition to the game-winning goal, Peijs finished with a team-high
two assists. Four different players scored for Boston University in
the loss.
For the game, UConn out-shot the Terriers 20-6 and attempted 11
penalty corners to Boston University’s one.
The Huskies return to action on Sunday, Oct. 23 when they travel to
Syracuse for a BIG EAST clash slated for a 1:00 p.m. (ET) start.
