Field Hockey’s Melissa Gonzalez Named to
2008 Junior Pan American Cup Team
Gonzalez to compete in Pan American Junior National
Championship Oct. 3-12 in Mexico City

15, 2008) - UConn field hockey rising sophomore
Melissa Gonzalez (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.) has
been named to the 2008 Junior Pan American Cup Team.
Gonzalez will compete with the squad at the Pan American Junior National
Championship which will be played in Mexico City on Oct. 3-12. The tournament
serves as a qualifier for the 2009 Junior World Cup.
Gonzalez enjoyed a tremendous freshman collegiate season in 2007 as she garnered
second team All-BIG EAST and All-Mideast Region honors. She totaled nine goals
and four assists while starting all of Connecticut’s 25 games. She capped
off the 2007 campaign by being named to the 2007 NCAA Final Four All-Tournament
Team.
