Three Huskies Named To Hockey East Honor Roll

WAKEFIELD, Mass. (February 28, 2006) - Junior Alicia Ramolla (Barrie, Ontario), senior Kaitlyn Shain (Calgary, Alberta) and junior Natalie Vibert (Thunder Bay, Ontario) were all named to the Hockey East Weekly Honor Roll as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

It was the first weekly honor of the season for Ramolla, who had an assist on the game winning goal in UConn's 2-1 victory over Providence on Saturday and added another assist and a goal of her own in the 5-2 loss at Providence on Sunday. For the season, the defenseman played in all 34 of the Huskies games, tallying one goal and dishing out nine assists.

Shain finished her final season in a UConn uniform with a 9-19-0 record while accumulating a 2.32 goals against average and a .926 saves percentage. That saves percentage led all Hockey East goalies for the season. In earning the honor, her tenth time on the honor roll during the season, the senior totaled 73 saves over the last weekend of play, including stopping 35 shots in the 2-1 victory on Saturday. Shain also earned three Defensive Player of the Week honors on the year and was named the Goaltender of the Month for October.

A Second-Team Preseason All-USCHO.com honoree, Vibert earned her first weekly Hockey East honor after scoring the first goal and joining Ramolla in assisting on the second in UConn's victory on Saturday. For the season, the junior scored four goals and dished out six assists while seeing action in 31 games.

The Huskies wrapped up the 2005-06 season with a 12-21-1 overall record and a 10-11-0 mark against Hockey East opponents. UConn was 8-8-0 on the season in the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum, including a 6-4-0 record in the league at home.
