STORRS, Conn. (March 21, 2008) - Sophomore Dominique Thibault (L'Orignal, Ont.) was named to the Division I Women's Ice Hockey RBK All-American Second Team after a record-breaking season with the University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team, as announced Thursday by the American Hockey Coaches Association.

Thibault is UConn's first ever women's ice hockey player to earn All-American honors as well as Hockey East Player of the Year honors, as she finished the regular season with a league-high 48 points, including 24 goals and 24 assists, while leading the Huskies in goals and points this season.

This year's individuals selected consisted of five players currently competing for the NCAA Division I Women's Ice Hockey Championship in Duluth, Minn. this weekend. Only two players among the 12 are from the United States, while nine come from Canada. Thibault is one of four sophomores chosen for this award, as five of those chosen are seniors and the remaining three are juniors at their respective institutions.

With Thibault's efforts this season, she also earned a spot on the All-Hockey East First Team. In Hockey East tournament play, Thibault picked up an additional goal and point to go along with her season's tally, despite the Huskies' loss to Providence in semifinal play.

The sophomore phenom also picked up a new UConn program record of points in a single season with her 49 this year. She is currently in second place among UConn’s all-time scoring leaders, with 38 career goals. With 74 points in her two years at UConn, she moves up in the UConn record books to third place in career points.
