STORRS, Conn. (Oct. 3, 2008) – Co-captains

Ont.) and Nicole Tritter (Toronto, Ont.) look to bring the
momentum of the University of Connecticut women’s ice hockey team’s

State-Mankato this weekend. The Huskies take on the Mavericks in a
two-game series on Friday and Saturday.
In the all-time series against Minnesota, the Huskies are
all even (2-2-2) after winning the last two meetings against the Mavericks.

the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum. Tritter and current assistant coach Jaclyn
Hawkins scored both goals in the 2-0 win on Oct. 12 while Brittany Wilson
(Nepean, Ont.) made 29 saves in net. Thibault scored the game winner in UConn’s
3-2 victory the following day.

tricks against Sacred Heart on Sept. 27. Thibault finished the season opener
with a team-high five points after adding two assists. Tritter also had an
assist and was one of 12 Huskies who had at least one assist. Amy Hollstein
(Pembroke, Mass.) contributed a pair of goals in the 13-0 win as well as an
assist. Michelle Binning (Oshawa, Ont.) and Monique Weber (Rogers,
Minn.) also totaled three points against the Pioneers each scoring a goal and a
pair of assists.
Jaclyn Camardo (Arlington Heights, Ill.), Rebecca
Hewett (Oak Bluff, Mant.) and Weber all scored their first collegiate goals
in their first game as a Husky.

Friday’s game will be the first regular-season action the
Mavericks have seen after having battled to a 6-6 tie against the Minnesota
Whitecaps on Sept. 26, before eventually losing the exhibition game 2-0 in a
shootout.
Senior Maggie Fisher returns as the Mavericks top-returning
scorer as well as the all-time leading goal scorer with 37. Fisher tallied 11
goals last season and finished the year with 24 points. Junior Kala Buganski was
second in scoring last season after recording 10 goals and adding 10 assists.
Minnesota State was selected to finish sixth out of eight
teams in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Pre-Season Women’s Coaches’
Poll released on Sept. 23. Minnesota Duluth, last year’s national champion was
selected to finish first, receiving five first place votes.
