Huskies Ranked For Record Third Straight Week

STORRS, Conn. (May 3, 2005) – The University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse team (11-5, 3-2 BIG EAST) dropped one spot to number 16 in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Top 20 poll this week. It is the third consecutive week that UConn has been ranked by the IWLCA, breaking the previous school record of two weeks, coming on March 24 and 31, 2003. This week’s ranking is just seven days removed from a watershed No. 15 ranking for the Huskies. UConn entered the poll for this season on April 19 at No. 18.

UConn’s 11-5 record in 2005 established a new school benchmark for most victories in a season, with each of the five blemishes coming at the hands of ranked teams. UConn also recorded a 3-2 mark in BIG EAST Conference play, the first winning league slate in school history.

The Huskies have concluded their regular season and will receive word on May 9 if they have been selected for postseason play.
