UConn Finishes Second and Third In Mystic
MYSTIC,
Conn. --- The University of Connecticut women’s rowing team opened
its fall 2004 season on Sunday as it competed at the Mystic Coastweeks
Regatta.
The Huskies entered two fours in the event, and for the
second year in a row, finished second and third behind Coast Guard. The
Huskies went into the race having practiced together only twice. Over 2000
meters, the UConn boats were only one second apart.
“As much as I was hoping we could beat Coast Guard this
year, I was happy to see that our two boats were so close in speed,” says UConn
head coach Jen Sanford-Wendry. “We will try to catch Coast Guard in the eights
at the Head of the Riverfront on October 3rd. Our team has a lot of
depth this year which will make us stronger across the board.”
