Huskies Compete in Head of the Riverfront Regatta
Uconn Participates in Four Events

HARTFORD, Conn. (October 2, 2005) - The women's rowing team competed in four events on Sunday afternoon at the Head of the Riverfront Regatta.  The team placed in the Varsity 8, Novice 4, Women's 2nd College 8, and the Women's College 4.

In the Varsity 8, UConn placed third out of 15 teams with a time of 16:27.7.  Trinity took first place in the event with a time of 15:39.9, followed by Boston College (16:22.8), UConn, and Dowling College took fourth with a time of 16:24.9.

UConn took fourth place in the Novice 4 with a time of 20:27.9.  Coast Guard captured first place with a time of 18:31.8, Rhode Island was second (18:34.7) and Stony Brook was third (20:25.6).

Three UConn boats competed in the Women's 2nd College 8 taking third, sixth and ninth place.  URI took first with a time of 15:56.0 and Trinity took second with a time of 15:58.1.  UConn's A boat took third (16:07.8), the B boat was second (16:46.3) and the C boat finished ninth (17:37.3).

In the Women's College 4, UConn took seventh of 15 with a time of 17:27.0.  Trinity took first place in the event with a time of 16:22.0.

The rowing team competes again on Sunday, Oct. 23 in Boston at the Head of the Charles Regatta.
