Huskies Sweep Fairfield
COVENTRY, Conn. (April 5, 2008) --
The University of Connecticut rowing team swept a pair of races from
Fairfield at Coventry Lake on Sunday.
In the varsity eight race, UConn's
Varsity won in a time of 7:34.0 while the Second Varsity finished in second
at 7:52.1. Fairfield finished third in the event.
The UConn First Varsity boat was senior Katie Beasley (Centerville, Mass.), junior Kathy Les
(South Windsor, Conn.), senior Olga Solovyova (New London, Conn.),
freshman Gretchen Stern (Rexford, N.Y.), sophomore Sarah
Willhoft (Manchester, Conn.), senior Monica Parker (Glastonbury, Conn.),
sophomore Katie Rauscher (Manchester, Conn.), sophomore
Rebecca Likar (East Lyme, Conn.) and junior Heather Gates
(Monmouth Beach, N.J.).
The Second Varsity
boat was sophomore Leah Masopust (Morris, Conn.), senior Allyson Zoppa
(East Hartford, Conn.), sophomore Kristen Beasley (Centerville,
Mass.), freshman Audrey Squire (Kinnelon, N.J.), sophomore Jennifer Reynolds
(South Hero, Vt.), senior
Maddie Bey (South Windsor, Conn.), sophomore Lizzie Dargie
(Waterford, Conn.), sophomore Mikey Sevick (Simsbury, Conn.) and
junior Stephanie Bryant
(Natick, Mass.).
UConn's First Novice won that race in a time of 8:30.6
while the Husky Second Novice boat was second in 9:03.1. Fairfield was
third in 9:24.5. The First Novice was Hailey Rosa (Mansfield, Conn.), freshman Julie Tibbetts
(East Lyme, Conn.), freshman Efmorfia Efthimiou (Stonington,
Conn.), sophomore Sylvia Czupi (Woodbridge, Conn.), freshman Kim Weber
(Ridgefield, Conn.), sophomore Margaret Hoagland (Chaplin, Conn.),
sophomore Lizzie Littlewood (Mystic, Conn.), freshman Amanda
Cote (Wakefield, R.I.) and freshman Robin Calhoun (Evanston,
Ill.).
The Second Novice
was freshman Taylor Pence (Vienna, Va.), freshman Brittany Koether (Orange, Conn.),
sophomore Jackie Ortuso (Somerset, N.J.), freshman Isabella
Draper (Bridgeport, Conn.), sophomore Allison Cote (Granby, Conn.),
sophomore Lynn Dusault (Somerset, N.J.), freshman Brittany Schramm
(White Bear Lake, Minn.), sophomore Katelyn Donovan (Sherman, Conn.) and and sophomore Manouchka
Sanon (Ramapo, N.Y.).
UConn will compete at the Knecht Cup in
Camden N.J, next weekend. |
