University of Connecticut softball team fell 6-0 to Boston College in
non-conference action Wednesday. The Huskies fall to 11-12 on the season, while
the Eagles improve to 20-17. The Huskies hit well throughout the contest as
they had eight base hits. However Boston College pitcher Allison Gage was able
to get out of jams by inducing three inning ending double plays. Melissa
Lucas (Methuen, Mass.) had another strong day at the plate, going 3-for-3 to
raise her team leading batting average to .400 on the season. The Eagles got
on the board in the second inning when Dani Weir hit a two-run home run off of
starter Tricia Sullivan (New Bedford, Mass.). They broke the game open
with three hits and two more runs in the fifth to pull away from the Huskies.
UConn returns to action on Thursday when they host in-state rival Central
Connecticut. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the Connecticut softball
field. |
