Softball Earns Third Seed in BIG EAST Tournament Will Face Syracuse in
Quarterfinals

University of Connecticut softball team has earned the third seed in the
upcoming BIG EAST tournament May 8-10 in Louisville, Ky. They will face sixth
seeded Syracuse in the quarterfinals on Thursday, May 8 at 10:00 a.m. All
tournament games involving the Huskies will be aired on WHUS 91.7. UConn
finished 13-7 in the BIG EAST (27-21 overall). The third place finish is their
highest regular season finish since they finished third in back-to-back years in
2000 and 2001. The Huskies defeated Syracuse in their doubleheader this season
back on April 6. The won game one 9-1 in five innings and recorded a come from
behind 7-6 win in game two. Sarah Neuschwander (Chugiak, Alaska) hit a
walk-off home run to give Connecticut the win in that game. The other
quarterfinals on May 8 will feature second seed DePaul against seventh seed
Pittsburgh at 12:30 p.m. Regular season BIG EAST Champion and top seed USF will
face eighth seed Providence at 4:00 p.m. The day will conclude with fourth seed
Notre Dame against the host and fifth seed Louisville at 6:30 p.m. The
semifinals will be played on Friday, May 9 at 2:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The
championship game is scheduled for Saturday, May 10 at 1:00 p.m. The semifinals
and finals will be broadcast live on CBS College Sports. Check back with
